Hydrogen Market Development between China and Germany
Robert Herzner

Hydrogen will become central pillar in achieving Germany's energy transition. There is also China Cluster based Cooperation Opportunities.

In his presentation, Robert Herzner, Chief Representative Hong Kong at Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI), will introduce Germany's national hydrogen strategy, and how to support the development of hydrogen markets investing in the H2 Economy.

Next, he will showcase common business cases for Chinese and German companies in the hydrogen industry and explain how international companies can profit from the hydrogen-friendly policies and funding in Germany. In view of China's green hydrogen production with regional development focus Plan 2030, there are new business opportunities emerging in green hydrogen energy.

Robert Herzner, Chief Representative Hong Kong at Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI)

Robert Herzner started with GTAI in Bonn in January 2017 in charge for Business Law Asia, consulting German

companies on Asian market entry regulations. Since January 2019, Robert Herzner is Director at GTAI's

Shanghai office, managing GTAI's investment promotion and advisory activities in China. Frequently speaking

at public events, Robert liaises with Government Institutions and connects public and private sector.

Prior to joining GTAI, Robert worked over 10 years in Taipei, Beijing and Kuala Lumpur predominantly for the

German Chamber of Commerce (AHK). Prior relocating back to Germany, his last position was Vice General

Manager of AHK Taiwan's service unit. He started his career in Frankfurt as Regional Sales Manager for the

world's largest discount group, LIDL. From 2007, he led the business development for the establishment of

the Beijing office for the largest Asia-based HR Consulting Company, HRnetGroup.

Robert graduated in Law from Mainz University and obtained 2001 his 2nd State Exam in Law after servicing

for the Office of the Public Prosecutor in the Federal State of Thuringia. In 2006, Robert obtained his MBA

from National ChengChi University in Taipei. His first relocation to Asia was in 1977, when his father worked

as a civil engineer in Saudi Arabia.
