【ANBOUND GEOPOLITICAL REVIEW】 China’s comprehensive advantages are gradually weakening, without developing new unique advantages, leading to a gradual decline. In the future, Mexico, Vietnam, India, and certain Southeast Asian countries may replace its role in the manufacturing industry, as their advantages in a specific area will become driving factors for industrial sector growth and economic takeoff. During the three years of the COVID-19 pandemic, multinational manufacturers were already hesitant about China, and with the neglect of industrial trends and transformations in policies, that has resulted in a wave of manufacturing relocating out of the country. China shall pay closer attention to such irreversible tendency, take active measures to adapt and respond, according to
Kung Chan, ANBOUND’s founder.
>> China’s Lianghui or Two Sessions for the year 2023, the annual meetings of the legislature and political advisory body, is set to begin this weekend. No doubt, China faces the significant challenges in stabilizing its economy, the foremost political priority for the authorities. The primary difficulty lies in the "three shortages”, i.e., of funds, confidence, and space, noted
He Jun, Director of Macro-Economy Research Center and Senior Researcher at ANBOUND. As the new government team comes to tackle matters, money stands as the core and pivotal issue. The most critical point is the shortage of funds for not only the government and enterprises, but also for the residents. The “shortage” of confidence, is a rather common one, with private and foreign companies generally adopting a wait-and-see approach. In addition, market space is greatly affected by cyclical changes in the economy, industry, and market. Such a constraint cannot be resolved merely by public policies.
