Anti-Monopoly Isn't Industrial Nationalism
ANBOUND
China has increased its anti-monopoly probes into foreign-funded enterprises since this year. Some analysts suggest that striking foreign-funded enterprises selectively is a part of industrial nationalism. However, ANBOUND research team doesn't agree. ANBOUND researchers believe that anti-monopoly actions with nationalism being the aim are very dangerous. To deal with the market’s over-interpretation of China’s anti-monopoly probes, the Chinese government should show its goodwill, explain the policies better and increase their transparency. Meanwhile, China should emphasis the principle and starting point of the anti-monopoly action. China needs to make it clear that anti-monopoly action is not a kind of industrial nationalism. On the contrary, it is needed by both the Chinese companies and foreign-funded enterprises in Chinese market.
