Lessons from Eurozone Delay West African Monetary Integration
ANBOUND

Monetary integration once attracted much attention. However, since Eurozone is in a predicament, Asian Monetary Unit (AMU) has disappeared and West African Monetary Integration is also delayed. ANBOUND research team believes that the current predicament of Eurozone is an important factor that contributes to the delay of timetable of West African single currency. The economic development level, social culture development condition and macroeconomic policy coordination degree of Eurozone countries are closer than those of any other regions, but even they cannot totally control the monetary integration course. Thus, it is not surprising that AMU disappeared and West African Monetary Integration is delayed. West African Monetary Integration will probably make no real progress until Eurozone countries find a way to solve their problems.
