He Jun: GE's Alstom Acquisition Should Be Approved
ANBOUND

There has been a heated discussion today concerning the GE (General Electric)'s takeover of Alstom on China's market. He Jun, ANBOUND senior researcher, states that as a normal market adjustment, the acquisition should be approved by China’s supervision agencies. If rejected, the result may send a negative signal to the global market for China’s growing intervention. Currently, in the context of Sino-US confrontation of the free trade issue, the rebuttal to this acquisition will lead to a turn-off. Moreover, China’s domestic enterprises temporarily haven’t got obviously strong competitiveness in GE and Alstom’s field. Nevertheless, increasing Chinese companies’ competitive force cannot only rely on the curbing policy to foreign-invested enterprises.
