On May 13, the officials from the free trade zone (FTZ) stated that the FTZ's negative list can be further reduced from 190 to 130 items this year. ANBOUND research team believe that such move is to honor its initial promise on reform. It is difficult to evaluate the impact before the finalized 2014 list is released. Nonetheless, 130 is not a small sum and needs to be further reduced. It is worth noting that the establishment of FTZ has opened up the value added service of the telecommunication industry but afterwards spread to the foundation of telecommunication service. Perhaps, such changes will be reflected in the future FTZ negative list.
