The Chinese telecommunications company ZTE has opened a network security laboratory in the Belgian city of Brussels, reports Xinhua News Agency, following the opening of a similar lab by the tech giant Huawei.

The lab is intended to improve transparency regarding ZTE's telecommunications equipment, according to Zhong Hong, the company's chief security officer.

He said ZTE is willing to work with external parties to promote network security.

In May, ZTE set up network security labs in Nanjing and Rome. These labs are said to work together to conduct source code and document reviews, black-box testing, and penetration tests.
