China, Pakistan FMs make phone call over India-Pakistan tension
China Plus

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi made an urgent phone call Wednesday night with Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi over the latest India-Pakistan tension, hoping China can continue its constructive role in easing tensions.

Wang Yi expressed deep concern over the escalation of conflict and introduced China's efforts in mediation and negotiation. Wang reiterated that China hopes both sides show restraint and prevent the situation from getting worse.

India claimed to have carried out air strikes on the Pakistani side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir on Tuesday, and Pakistan said it shot down two Indian fighter jets inside Pakistani airspace earlier on Wednesday.

Many commercial flights to and from Pakistan, India were disrupted as the two countries had shut down several airports.
