It has been years since Ordos' fall from the Chinese local economy and the city is currently facing a serious challenge. The burst of asset bubbles and heavy debt burdens require Ordos to shift its industrial focus from energy and heavy chemical industry to the financial sector, which is an inevitable approach for its economic recovery. Financial approach is the only way for Ordos’ economy recovery; otherwise it might die out as a resource city.
