Indian tech grows in China and UK
China Plus

A number of Indian tech start-ups are preparing to expand into the British and Chinese markets.

That’s according to specialist publication Live Mint, which reports that the developments cover both the popular ride-hailing and hospitality sectors.

Apparently, Indian app Ola - which is similar to Didi Chuxing or Uber - will soon launch operations in South Wales and Manchester, having gained the necessary approvals to operate there.

It is notable that Ola hasn’t chosen London as a launch-pad - perhaps aware that previous attempts to launch rival services to Uber, including one by Didi-backed Taxify, have not been successful to date.

Meanwhile, Live Mint also report that Oyo - an Indian hotel aggregator - is seeking rapid expansion in China.

Both examples serve to illustrate the willingness of India’s next generation of entrepreneurs to take on established industry leaders in international markets.

We’ll be sure to follow their progress as they do so.
