"New Silk Road" and Xinjiang's Governance Strategy Adjustment

The development of "New Silk Road" is not only a concern for the western region development strategy but the practical issues of how to govern Xinjiang is also a major concern for China. ANBOUND's chief researcher Chan Kung hosted a dialogue to discuss the issues of “new silk road” and Xinjiang’s governance. Chan Kung stated that the current studies on “new silk road” are transforming from theoretical phase to strategic solutions phase. At the current phase, it is crucial to identify various practical issues and seize the opportunities from it. It is a crucial stage whether the Chinese government can effectively govern Xinjiang and achieve some breakthroughs.
