Flood In Beijing Suggests Urban System Crisis

The rainstorm on July 21, 2012 leads to a serious flood in Beijing. According to the official information, up to August 6th, the death toll reached 79 people and 1.9 million people were affected. The preliminary statistics showed approximately ten billions of economic losses. Although the serious flood and damages that suffered by Beijing are seemingly caused by natural disaster, but it is in fact a systematic crisis due to accumulated defect aspects such as urban planning, construction and management.
