The Fourth China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue is due to be held in Beijing on May 3 and 4. In spite of both sides' strong wishes for more communications and mutual trust as well as devoting more efforts in the talks, no mutual trust has so far been established for both countries’long-term objectives. Indeed, this will undoubtedly hinder the development of their bilateral relationship. Hence, before the opening of the 2012 dialogue, we compile all the related reports co-authored by senior scholars in both the US and China, with the aim of providing alternative perspectives on China-US relations.
