Rural Land Entering Market Directly Will Aggravate Contradiction
ANBOUND

It is difficult to balance interests in the rural land reform within the new urbanization drive. Anbound's research team considers that although establishing rural land-use rights and entering the market directly is a way to protect farmers’ interest, the local governments would lose land transfer fee system, which is their main income source. The ever growing local debt issue would force the local governments to increase tax collection and management. And this would eventually harm the long-term development of local economies.
