The 14th general election
of Malaysia is extremely complicated. Although the results of the election are
yet to be announced, researchers from Anbound, basing on the comprehensive
opinion polls and signals of Malaysian society, made their judgements as follows:
first, the contest of the election is so fierce that the gap maybe around 10
seats only in the lower house, a possibility of win of the ruling
National Front;
second, Mr. Mahathir came back suddenly and allied himself to the opposition,
enhanced the opposition’s competitiveness, which may be helpful to mobilize the
voters at last and may lead to variables in the results of the election; third, the support rates of the ruling party and the opposition are very
close, which means no matter which side wins, the road ahead is doomed to be
rough and the uncertainty of future political environment in Malaysia is likely
to increase.
