Yang Jianping, Deputy Director of the Central Liaison Office in Hong Kong, said recently that the Chinese central government supports the integration of Hong Kong into the overall development of the country. According to Yang Jianping, the central government will appoint a high-level official to take charge of the planning work in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area. Currently the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area has become a strategic plan for the central government, being a plan tailor-made for Hong Kong and Macao. In addition, residents of Hong Kong and Macao in the area will be granted the same treatment as the Mainland residents in housing, education and transportation.
