NDRC conducts antitrust investigations on ports in China
ANBOUND
On November 15, China's National Development and Reform Commission stated that starting from mid-April this year, the NDRC and the Ministry of Transport conducted an antitrust investigation on Shanghai Port and Tianjin Port in accordance with the law to ascertain their alleged violation of the Anti-Monopoly Law. On this basis, the NDRC held a joint meeting with the Ministry of Transport and the China Ports and Harbours Association to require all 39 ports along the coast of the country to carry out self-examination and rectification. After the rectification, only one loading and unloading operation fee will be reduced; it is expected that the cost of import and export logistics will be reduced by about 3.5 billion yuan each year.
