Singapore adjusts its diplomatic strategy

Lee Kuan Yew, the founding father of Singapore, recognized China's role in the security mechanism of Asia Pacific; one of such frameworks includes maintaining the "partnership" relation and engaging in the China economics’ growth while anticipating the American involvement in the Asia-pacific security mechanism to curb the rising China’s influence. This balancing strategy, however, appears to be problematic after US president trump took power, and has caused Singapore to adjust its diplomatic strategy. Lee Hsien Loong’s recent visit to China signifies the directional shift in Singaporean foreign policy.
