China's supply side growth no longer dependent on external markets

The consumption potential and consumption patterns in the Chinese market are attracting attention. HSBC said China's new 400 million young consumers will soon occupy more than half of the mainland's spending. Economic Nobel laureate Michael Spence said many authorities have questioned whether China can shift from a labor-intensive manufacturing, export, infrastructure investment and heavy industry-based economy to a service economy backed by domestic demand.
