United Nations Sanctions and North Korea's "Economic Toughness"
ANBOUND
The United Nations Security Council has imposed punishment against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the most severe one for a single country in the last 10 years. However, the signs and activities of the North Korean economy show that the North Korean economy has a strong resilience when it is at a lower level. The GDP growth rate in North Korea in 1916 was 3.9%, showing signs of getting out of recession in construction, business and market. In the era of globalization, North Korea's efforts to maintain low levels of growth and livelihood problems are relatively small, which will increase the difficulty of United Nations to impose comprehensive sanctions to force North Korea to abandon or weaken the development of nuclear policy objectives.
