Europe-US steel trade friction provides opportunity to China
ANBOUND
With the recent changes in the international steel trade, the United States is expected to take suppressive measures on steel exports, including to the European countries under the pretext of national security grounds. Germany, the Netherlands and other NATO partner countries have expressed their concern to the United States Department of Defense and warned that this may exacerbate the tension between the transatlantic alliance. NATO countries' military lobbying strategy is very unusual. It is noteworthy that while the NATO countries are against United States’ steel trade position, this actually provides China opportunities, although it will still be depending on China’s bargaining power.
