In recent months, the corruption scandal of China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) shocked the whole world. It is reported that a joint venture refinery project of Royal Dutch Shell and CNPC has been shelved because of local opposition and some political reasons. Anbound's research team predicts that more projects may be suspended in light of the fact that the authorities seek to get to the bottom of it. The impact of this corruption case toward the normal production of oil is thus, unavoidable, at least until it is fully solved.
