China should not focus on low price in its aircraft promotion

China's big passenger jet C919's took off on its maiden flight successfully at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on May 5, and this is significant for the Chinese aviation industry. However, we note that the Chinese domestic C919 promotional ideas might be fixed on its "cheap" aspect. Anbound's chief researcher Chan Kung believes that this idea is almost declaring price war which will prompt reactions from Boeing and Airbus. In addition, the market would suspect if the low price is at the expense of the quality. China should promote more on its security and stability, emphasizing its technical advantages, which not only help solve the problem of airworthiness certification faster, but also conducive to marketing, which will improve the country’s domestic big passenger jet profit returns.
