China possesses a guarantee for its comeback in global geopolitical scene, and the location for this to take place is Ukraine.

Ukraine is now at the center of the world's attention as the U.S. alleges that Russia is preparing to attack the country. As a result, numerous diplomatic mediations are in the midst of intense deliberation. The U.S. now pressures NATO, not only to deploy American troops but to push the NATO forces eastward. Moscow of course, refuses to accept such position, hence naturally it assembles more troops at the Ukrainian border. Amid such tensions, diplomatic avenues are being feverishly explored, and while the outlines of potential solutions may be taking shape, they remain uncertain as ever.

U.S. President Joe Biden has met German Chancellor Olaf Schultz, and French President Emmanuel Macron, in preparation to visit Moscow to talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also prepares to travel to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. At the heart of the EU, Macron has worked hard to place himself at the center of European diplomacy. To Moscow, he is a "quality interlocutor", according to a senior official in the French presidency.

All of this is unsatisfactory for Russia, because the Russians want security guarantees for the territories that they have already controlled, including Crimea and eastern Ukraine. It is highly likely that Ukraine would take full advantage of the unrest to gain the greatest benefit for itself from Europe and the United States, which of course is impossible for it to gain from Russia. Putin understands this well, and he attempts to make Ukraine abandon such approach.

From geopolitical perspective, China stands a chance.

China has just provided Russia with a USD 80 billion commercial contract. It seems that China has not thought of what it wants. Of course, it does not mean things are done after Putin attended the opening ceremony. In fact, China has the opportunity to insist on participating in the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. The most important thing for it, is to send peacekeepers to separate the Ukrainian army from the Russian army. In other words, this is to provide Russia with security guarantees that NATO cannot provide. So long as either Russia or Ukraine does not exclude China's participation, such goal is achievable. This is the time for China to consider the measures that it needs to take, and how it should utilize the USD 80 billion.

If this is realized, then China's global status would become clear.
