China and US should expand mutual interest
ANBOUND

From April 6 to 7, the leaders of China and the United States will hold the first meeting after Donald Trump became the President of the United States. Concerning the future of China-United States relationship, Anbound's scholar Chan Kung has pointed out the characteristics of the relations as "balancing in greater situation" and “competition in lesser situation”. Seeking for more common interest with the United States should be China’s major strategy in its relations with the United States. In the future, Washington not only will impose more complicated security inspection procedures, but will also consider factors in “equal relations”. If the China market is not “equally open” to the American businesses, certain markets of the United States will close the door to Chinese investment as well. This “mutual close door” trend is dangerous, and it should be an issue of concern should China and the United States wish to strengthen trade and investment with each other.
