Chan Kung: Commemorating Zhou Youguang and Promoting Hanyu Pinyin
ANBOUND
As the world was shocked by the passing of the famous linguist Zhou Youguang, in China there are only a small number of older intellectuals mourning him in personal ways. Anbound's chief researcher Chan Kung said that Zhou and Hanyu Pinyin are an important part of China's civilization process, but the promotion of Hanyu Pinyin and writing systems are not without obstacles. It is imperative for China to implement the dual-track writing system as soon as possible, especially implementing complete romanization in the border areas such as Xinjiang. After this, China should completely implement total Romanization for the Chinese civilization to progress. Writing system should be progressive; if Chinese do not do this, foreigners will do that on behalf of the Chinese. As computer keyboards are making phonetic alphabets popular, Chinese writing systems are becoming a writing system that can be recognized but cannot be written.
