Urban agglomeration planning will have less effect on economic development
ANBOUND
Recently, China's National Development and Reform Commission has issued the "Central Plains Urban Agglomeration Development Plan", focusing on creating the Zhengzhou metropolitan area and creating the "one core, four axes, four areas" spatial distribution pattern. However, Anbound Think Tank researchers point out that under China’s “new normal" economy, urban agglomeration planning’s role in stimulating the economy might be greatly reduced. This is mainly because China's current economy, urbanization, real estate market, population movements and other aspects are very different from the past. The future development of urban agglomeration will encounter some rather realistic challenges, like locating industries and populations, and how bigger cities would solve the issues of small and medium cities absorbing resources.
