Government officials should not assume academic positions
ANBOUND
The issue of government officials getting academic positions is not limited to China; it is common in Russia, though Russian President Vladimir Putin recently warned senior officials that if they get other jobs in places such as academic institutions, they may be relieved of their duties. After researching on the situation of the academia, Anbound Think Tank's researchers discovered that in the competition to obtain the resources, many universities and research institutes are in collusion with government officials. Although the officialdom and the academia can collaborate with each other and rational mechanism should provide bidirectional exchange for these two fields, a person cannot assume positions in both fields as this will lead to corruption.
