Haze problem shows urgency in agricultural and supply-side reform
ANBOUND

From November 2 to 5, North and Northeastern China had experienced heavy haze weather; this not only affects the traffic safety and local residents' daily lives, but also further highlights the urgency of supply-side reform. Anbound research team believes that although there are certain meteorological conditions and seasonal factors causing the haze, it is related to the urbanization and the traditional industrial structure as well. Urbanization coupled with government support for the automotive industry has caused the concentration and intensification of urban vehicle emissions. More importantly, under the stimulation of infrastructures, some regions do not pay much attention on the expansion of high-pollution industries but rather concentrating on economic development in the year end. At the same time, straw and coal burning is also an important reason for the haze, and this shows there is an urgency to reform the agricultural sector and the energy supply-side.
