Not optimistic for China-Japan-Korea FTA negotiation progress
ANBOUND
China's Ministry of Commerce Research Institute recently issued a document pointing out that China-Japan-Korea FTA negotiations have lasted for a long period of time; the process does not go smoothly and the difficulty of the negotiations is mainly due to political reasons. From our analysis, we believe at the current stage, for South Korea and Japan, the China-Japan-Korea FTA’s priority level is low; so it would be of no use even if China wishes to speed up the progress. Now it would be better for China to concentrate on its domestic reforms, to further improve its free trade zone’s quality. In conclusion, the current stage is not optimistic for China to push for the negotiations of the China-Japan-Korea FTA.
