Merkel's "regret" might cause huge impact on Europe’s refugee policy
ANBOUND
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been a supporter in welcoming refugees, but she recently expressed her regret in underestimating the enormity of the challenge. Germany has so far received one million refugees, and this has posed a great political pressure on Merkel. Although Merkel's "regret" is just a political statement, that is sufficient to give a huge impact on the future of Europe's refugee policy. If Germany as the core of European Union no longer welcomes refugees, this will cause the whole Europe to reject receiving refuges, and of course Central European countries have been rejecting refugees from the start. By changing her stand, Merkel might cause tremendous impact on the refugee policy of the European Union.
