Future Sino-Japanese Relations will Face Even More "Stumbling Blocks"
ANBOUND
On 5 September, President Xi Jinping met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the Hangzhou summit. The latter was in China to attend the G20 Leaders summit. This time around, the Chinese side pointed out the new problems in Sino-Japanese relations directly (the historical issues and peaceful development of the South China Sea issue). However, the research team at ANBOUND predicts that after today, Abe will not stop regarding China as a threat, and will keep striving to "obstruct" China. In this regard, the current Japanese political sphere can be classified into the pro-Taiwan faction and the pragmatic faction. The political creeds and ideas of these two factions differ greatly, and both could bring about many more variables in Japan's China policy in the future, thereby causing Sino-Japanese relations to become even more complicated.
