Chan Kung: China
ANBOUND

Statistics shows that during the first half of the year, the economic growth rate among the provinces in China have differed significantly, of which the three northeastern provinces have severely stalled the overall economic development in China.

In this regard, the chief researcher at ANBOUND Consulting, Chan Kung suggests that China should stop using a one size fits all approach in its macroeconomic policy.

Instead of targeting high growth rate, first-tier cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong and Shenzhen should focus their policies on developing consumer society.

In relation to coastal region of Southeast China, Zhejiang which represents the developed region, should focus on improving the qualities of the cities as well as the innovation of technology

The development of real economy should be the primary driving force for the central and other less developed region and we should continue to develop the cities and the industry clusters.

Backward regions like Northeastern region and Shanxi province should focus on the issues of how to nurture and revitalize the industries.

Instead of pumping money, the policies should strive to foster its market system as well as market economy.
