Land Reform Constraints Rural Development
ANBOUND

With the current neo-urbanization and the 13th Five Year Plan's poverty reduction, the importance and the urgency for China’s rural development to search for breakthrough is increasing.

ANBOUND’s research team, which has been tracking rural land reform for a long time, believes that rural land reform determines the rural reform and development.

From a policy perspective, rural development in China is subjected to land reform.

If the rural land reform is stopped for the fear of the collapse of collective ownership, the patterns of China’s rural development and urbanization will be ignored for political consideration.

China might even experience delay in the participation of urban industrial capitals in rural construction if it is still stuck in the old framework.

With the aging of Chinese population, in 30 years’ time, a large number of aging farmers will no longer live and they will never get to enjoy the benefits brought by rural land reform.
