Northern China Needs Urgent Preventive Measure to Control Floods
ANBOUND

Since May this year, extreme weather has led to serious flood in areas around Yangtze River basin, Huai River, Yellow River, Hai River and Lake Tai.

In recently days, the North China Plain and northern China were inundated with heavy rain and flooding, of which the situation in Hebei region is the worst.

The research team at ANBOUND Consulting suggests that heavy rain has battered much of the country from the south to north, triggering floods and landslides and breaching dyke, causing considerable loss of life and property, posing a fresh challenge to China which is already struggling to maintain stable economy.

In areas that might experience flooding (particularly the northern China that has little experience in flood control), it is completely possible to reduce the loss and minimize the risk by learning from the past mistakes, raising awareness of flood risk and take preventive measures.
