ANBOUND: China Facing the Historical Task of Restructuring Its Relationship With Myanmar
ANBOUND
On March 30, backed by the National League for Democracy, Htin Kyaw was sworn in as Myanmar's new president.
Aung San Suu Kyi will run the country from the foreign ministry and the president’s office; she will also act as the spokeswoman for the country’s new president.
As an independent think tank that have been tracking the development in Myanmar over a long period of time, ANBOUND’s research team is of the view that the political reform made by the Myanmar’s new administration will not be able to solve all the problems.
In addition to bread-and-butter issues and drug problems, Myanmar also faces problems in areas like economy and trade, with Myanmar taking on the enormous task of developing the country’s economy and building the nation, this presents China an important opportunity to restructure its trade relations with Myanmar in a wider geopolitical context.
