During this year's 'two sessions’, Chen Xiwen, director of the central agricultural working leading team office stresses that we must do three things during the 13th five-year plan.
Firstly, we should be open-minded and understand China’s agriculture from the perspective of world economy. Secondly, we should coordinate the relationship among the departments, local governments, industries and the species. Thirdly, we should promote the innovations in systems and technologies.
For nearly the past ten years, ANBOUND’s scholars have been advocating for the redefinition of food security issues and urging the government to look at the agricultural problems from the perspectives of global market and resources, but unfortunately, the government has not adopted our recommendations.
The remarks made by Chen Xiwen might mean that the Chinese government will now readjust its policy on agricultural reform from the perspectives of globalization and marketization.
