Beijing's Restructuring Should Include Urban Forest
ANBOUND
As a result of the restructuring, the industries with high population density and the trading markets will be shifted away from the city's core areas.
ANBOUND’s research team is of the view that the locations of these markets are significant as they have tremendous impacts on the city’s environment and weather.
It is our recommendation that the government should retain some of the land for the purpose of creating the city’s urban forest which will enhance the value of the city’s assets
The city should move away from the mindset of 'just-sell-it’ and more thoughts should be given to the city’s environments and the function of the city as the country’s capital.
The understanding and the appreciation of urban forest is not a complicated problem, the key to realizing urban forest in Beijing is to place emphasis to the same in the urban policy and reflect the same in the city planning.
