ANBOUND: The "New Normal" Between China and Foreign Investment
ANBOUND

Although neither the Chinese policy makers nor its official documents have ever made negative remarks on the issue of foreign investment, nonetheless, the foreign investment are experiencing different feelings in China.

ANBOUND's research team believes that the differences experienced by the foreign investment could be due to the following reasons: -

(i)Not only that the Chinese market has sufficient capital, some of its capital has went abroad in line with the "go global" strategy;

(ii)Priorities have been given to China’s state-owned enterprises in developing China’s key sectors;

(iii)“National security” has become one of the hindrance to foreign investment in China;

(iv)The concerns and worries on poor intellectual property rights protections have affected the involvement and the development of foreign investment in China.

Currently, China’s relations with foreign investment have also entered into “new normal”, while it is true that China still needs foreign investment, the foreign investment should adapt to a changed China.

In order to create a better cooperation in the future, there has to be a mutual adaptation between the parties.
