China, Saudi Arabia, The "Special" Timing To Form Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
ANBOUND

Recently, China and Saudi Arabia have agreed to push forward comprehensive strategic partnership between the countries.

ANBOUND's scholars point out that the timing of the China’s visit to Middle East and the forming of a comprehensive strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia coincides with a series of significant events including the return of United States to Asia, the emergence of the United States as an energy exporter, the severe financial pressure faced by Saudi Arabia as a result of the low oil prices and the beginning of the more intensified religion’s problems in Saudi Arabia.

It is believed that China’s involvement with Saudi Arabia during this time might have some impacts.

Besides, given that there is no significant improvement to China’s diplomacy with its neighboring countries, if China could expand its diplomatic space through its diplomatic relationship with the distant countries; this is also a way to reflect the nation’s influence.
