How Does Middle East Mess Affect US's "Asia-Pacific Rebalancing" Strategy?
ANBOUND

The United States has gradually adjusted its Middle East policy to avoid being deeply involved in the region's internal affairs while shifting its strategic focus to Asia-Pacific region.

ANBOUND’s research team, however, points out that the worsening situation in the Middle East might have forced the United States to adjust its retrenchment strategy in the Middle East region which has in part held United States back from making its moves in the East Asia.

However, the Sino-US relations is still regarded by the United States as "one of the most challenging and consequential bilateral relationships the United States has ever had to manage", as such, while the United States will intensify its involvement in the Middle East affairs, it will not give up on its strategic turn to the East Asia and Asian Pacific region.
