Economic Downturn, Harder to Realize Renewable Energy Plan
ANBOUND
Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission have issued the provisional guidelines on increasing consumption of renewable energy as close as possible to the source of production in the pilot areas and proposed that the pilot projects should be rolled out in inner Mongolia and Gansu.
Anbound's research team, however, is of the view it the pilot projects which encourage "consumption by the locals" are hard to be implemented.
The use of the wind and solar power is not only an issue concerning environments or technical issue, but it also means competition with the conventional energy sources for profits.
The downward pressure on economy has made it harder to realize the renewable energy plans and making it riskier to invest in the related field and the possibility of bad debts increases as well.
