Consumers in Vietnam Will Not Enjoy TPP Bonus in Short Term
ANBOUND
Anbound's research team is of the view that, in the short term, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will not bring visible benefits to the everyday life of the ordinary people in Vietnam.
The excessively high commodity turnover tax in Vietnam will further restrict the expansion of the domestic market.
TPP aims to lower the tariff barrier for two reasons, on the one hand it hopes to increase the economic efficiency and on other hand, it is hoped that the ordinary people will enjoy the fruit from the increased economic efficiency.
However, unless and until the domestic reform on taxation is done, the ordinary people in Vietnam will not be able to enjoy the actual benefits brought by TPP.
