Malaysia Facing Mounting Social Unrest
ANBOUND
Some Malay organizations will be organizing "Anti-Bersih" rally which is also known as “Red Shirts” rally in Kuala Lumpur on 16th September to show their supports towards the ruling coalition and the Malay-based party, United Malays National Organisation (UMNO).
Anbound's scholars are of the view that the “Red Shirts” rally could only have happened with the connivance of the ruling government, particularly UMNO, hoping to gain more supports from the Malay voters amid the unstable political situation.
The outcome of the rally – whether or not it will end peacefully will be the weather vane for the racial relations in Malaysia for the next few years.
It is worth taking note that the rally could intensify both the political and racial conflicts in Malaysia.
