According to the data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics, in July the CPI went up while the PPI went down.

Anbound's scholars are of the view that the divergence of CPI and PPI might have hidden bad sign – the inflation factor is getting obvious and yet the real economy represented by the manufacturing sector remains weak.

Should this trend continues, it could turn into stagflation.
