The Estimate of USD 520 Billion Capital Outflows Could Be Exaggerated
ANBOUND

JPMorgan Chase's report claims that the total outflow from China over the past five quarters was USD 520 billion. Anbound's research team is of the view that in light of the increased downward pressure on China’s economy, such data from JPMorgan Chase has strong impact and it might easily prompt others to conclude that the economic downturn in China has caused large-scale capital outflows. Even if such trend is true, the actual situation could be much better that JPMorgan Chase’s estimation. JPMorgan Chase has not taken into consideration that situation wherein the corporates and residents in China market are holding US dollar. While one should be careful about capital outflow trend, the estimation on the degree of risk should be objective too.
