Drastic increase of Chinese seeking medical services abroad reflects the industry's shortcoming

Statistics show that from 2003 to 2012, medical expenditure of Chinese patients in other countries experiences drastic increase of 400%. According to Anbound's researchers, high demand of foreign medical services reflects the shortcoming of China’s service industry. Transforming from manufacturing industry to service industry proves to be a huge challenge for the Chinese society. Although the service industry enjoys larger market space, it requires different policies and environment compares with manufacturing industry; larger market space and more services are needed. Unlike the manufacturing industry that develops the Chinese market, service industry requires more opening-up and market-oriented reforms.
