Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission have launched the national level demonstration zone in both the national and district level pilot areas within the Yangtze River economic belt, to demonstrate the ways towards transformation and upgrading. Anbound's scholars point out that among the few national level strategic development plans, although the Yangtze River economic belt is not of the highest status, its region, economy, transport, market and other crucial conditions are better than the rest and hence it stands a better chance of succeeding. Hence, it is worth exploiting the development opportunities along the Yangtze River.
