China is to Rethink Supporting ASEAN Power via Heavy Investment
ANBOUND

Recently ANBOUND think tank scholars have set alarm over two potential risks in terms of China's heavy investment in ASEAN members that are involved in the "Maritime Silk Road" initiative. First of all, China’s available resources can hardly underpin both “one belt” and “one road” at the same time. The government should strategically focus on the “belt”; second, considering the competition between China and ASEAN, ASEAN in fact is China’s rival rather than cooperative partner. In this circumstance, China’s huge investment in ASEAN actually is reinforcing their power for competition.
