He Jun: Implication of China Cancelling Rare Earth Export Cap

According to the news on Commercial Ministry's official website, from the January 1st 2015, the rare earth export cap has been removed, and replaced by the license management. ANBOUND senior researcher He Jun says that first of all, it probably means the failure of China’s export cap policy. Some more market-oriented approaches such as resource tax will become the tool for managing rare earth export in the future among which, the resource tax of rare earth is likely to hike. Second, China has accepted the judgment by WTO over China’s rare earth export cap.
